Welcome to Yoga West Community

Yoga West Community is a vibrant wellness community awakening consciousness in Grand Junction. The Yoga West Community is owned and operated by a group of leaders in the fields of health and complementary medicine who are teachers and presenters from diverse backgrounds.

They come together to provide a multi-faceted approach to wellness and service to the Grand Valley.

We offer a variety of classes that include: Yoga, meditation, dance, Pilates, and Tai Chi.

We invite you to join us in our vision of expanding our creative potential in an inspiring and playful community.

Yoga West Community Philosophy

Yoga West Community offers a unique approach at our wellness center founded on the principles of cooperation, sustainability, and seva.

The theory and practice for the YWC business model comes from several sources:
1. John Nash, the economics Nobel Prize winner for game theory, taught the advantages of cooperation over competition. The movie ‘A Beautiful Mind” is based on his life story.
2. Charles Eisenstien, author of ‘Sacred Economics’, explains the value of cooperation and sustainability in business and society.
3. Ricardo Semler, CEO of Semco and author of ‘Maverick’, has demonstrated how these concepts can successfully and profitably be put into practice in a business environment.
4. In the Vedic texts, ‘seva’, a Sanskrit word meaning ‘service’, is fundamental to the philosophy and practice of Yoga.

Yoga West Community currently has twelve partners. We do not have the hierarchical, linear structure found in more traditional companies. Presently we are the only wellness center in the U.S. using this model and we are continually striving to bring these principles more fully into our practice.

Yoga West Community offers new students a first week free. After the free week you may purchase a punch-card or drop-in on classes as you like.

Yoga West Community also offers the option of becoming a Member. We are able to keep the membership fee ($50/month for unlimited classes) very low because it is limited to 35 members. The primary intent of our  membership is to encourage greater community. The membership fees also help cover our basic costs of overhead.

In keeping with a business model that is by its nature organic we are continually evolving and growing. We welcome creative ideas and input from all our instructors, members and students.
